WHAT IS THE WHALEBACK PROPERTY?
The Whaleback Property actually consists of four parcels of land that equal nearly 80 acres. The land is contiguous to Beaver Brook’s northern most land (north of Route 130 in Hollis, NH). It is bordered by our picturesque Wildlife Pond to the south, Rocky Pond Road to the north, Deacon Lane to the east and Beaver Brook property to the west.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
The price for the land is $600,000, which is $250,000 under the appraised value! The Town of Hollis has committed up to $200,000 towards the project. We need to raise an additional $450,000 to purchase the land and cover associated costs.

WHY IS THE WHALEBACK PROPERTY IMPORTANT?
The Whaleback Property would add significantly to a contiguous greenway of over 2,000 acres, which includes Town land and Beaver Brook Association land. This purchase would also expand our education corridor, enhancing the outdoor classroom experience for the thousands of children that visit each year.

Blanding TurtleThe Whaleback Property is an environmentally significant area that protects watersheds, threatened species and wetlands. It is home to the Blanding's Turtle, a State listed endangered species, Spotted Turtle a State listed threatened species and several species Of Special Concern.

Failure to meet the goal may result in the sale of property to a developer and the potential for development.
